The green energy sector in Ontario has been threatened by uncertainty in recent months due to the provincial election. Developers, manufactures, government and investors are concerned about what may happen to the industry, their projects and businesses, while residents and communities are concerned whether clean air and water, new found well paying jobs, local project ownership and hope, will be yanked from underneath them.  Ontario's green energy sector is entering its next phase and it is yet unknown what this new chapter will look like and how industry participants and communities will operate in the new climate.

Join the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association for its third annual conference to hear about and discuss Green Energy Ontario 2.0 and strategies for the sector as we navigate untraveled waters together.

Don't miss the Power Networking Centre trade show, jointly hosted with the Association of Power Producers of Ontario, cocktail receptions and renewable energy tours, which provide ample opportunities to network and make new business connections.

And don't forget to have a little fun! Join us, the industry's sustainable energy champions and Ontario's top chefs at the Steam Whistle Brewery as we throw the sector's best and most exclusive social event, the Green Connection on Monday, November 14th.

OSEA Activity

In 2011, OSEA celebrates its 10th anniversary as Ontario's champion of community power and a 100 per cent sustainable energy future. In the last decade, OSEA has had numerous successes, most recently the campaign for Ontario's Green Energy Act, in which we played a crucial role. Considered the most progressive renewable energy legislation in North American, it has put Ontario in the lead in the inevitable transition to green electricity. Its precedent, the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program, was also an important achievement.

To promote renewable energy, OSEA has also developed a range of guidebooks covering such subjects as the best practices for leasing land, purchasing solar panels in bulk, and financing community power projects. We have hosted three major conferences including the World Wind Energy Conference in Kingston in 2008, which was attended by more than 800 delegates including government ministers. OSEA also hosts its annual Community Power Conference, which last year was attended by more than 650 community leaders, farmers, homeowners, commercial developers and representatives from government, and local utilities.
